The 17th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), also known as COP 17, started Nov. 28 and was poised to close on Dec. 9, but was extended an extra day and a half to hammer out the final details.

While GtB'5 has wrapped up its 2011 event series, the Sustainable Design Showcase continues to run through December 16th at The Center, a newly opened multi-function, multi-use, 588 square meter space, just minutes from Beijing's transportation nexus in the Dongzhimen area.

The Center also acts as a Knowledge Center, Organic Kitchen, Green Bar, Wellness Center, Events Space, Office, and the home of We Impact.

We Impact is a social enterprise based in Beijing, set on a mission to develop and promote opportunities that will realize sustainable lifestyles around the world through the dissemination of knowledge, cultural engagement, and business.

Climate Reality - IN CHINA

Recently, on November 19th, as part of the GtB'5: Green eARTh for Everyone series, Greenpeace East Asia hosted a special event featuring a presentation by Ms. Ann Wang, from The Climate Reality project.

The talk was a proceeded by a brief presentation of Greenpeace East Asia's work in the region. "Trash Treasures" are everywhere in Beijing. Sometimes they spring up in the least expected places! The inspiration can even be overwhelming at times.

Take this plastic flower garden, for example. I discovered it earlier this year, on my way to visit GreenLadyC. We still have no idea just which one of her crafty green neighbors planted these beautiful babies, but we're sure glad they did.
