Greening the Beige opens its 3rd Annual Event: RE-ENERGIZE BEIJING! with eco-art photography, installations, a silent auction, and performances by Beijing Dance/LDTX and Beijing Improv.

A community based approach to green thinking and doing.

DANCE
Founded by veteran choreographers and a new generation of dancers in China, BeijingDance / LDTX is a platform for contemporary creations. Under the artistic direction of Willy Tsao, China’s foremost figure in modern dance, and deputy artistic director Li Hanzhong, the company boasts an ensemble technically exquisite dancers and a diverse repertoire. By presenting new choreographers and providing platforms for developing artists, BeijingDance / LDTX pioneers China’s most cutting edge choreography.

LAUGHTER
Beijing Improv is a local English-language spontaneous theater troupe formed in 2007. Known for their quick-wits, absurdity, and out-of-the-box plots, the group's been attracting a steady audience of both local Chinese and expatriates in Beijing over the years. At the same time, BJ Improv has served the city's creative green community by hosting regular bilingual workshops and hosting performance benefits for The Hua Dan Project.

EMPOWERMENT
Hua Dan is a Beijing based non-profit organisation dedicated to enabling the personal, social and economic empowerment of China’s rural and migrant population through participation in and leadership of inspirational arts-based projects. Hua Dan currently has several projects up and running in the migrant community in Beijing and an Earthquake Relief Project in Sichuan. Each uses the power of participatory theatre as means to help people build self-esteem, enhance human relationships and bring about healing.

"Hope In A Changing Climate" ‘地球的希望’

Simultaneously launching on the BBC, Greening the Beige is proud to present this exclusive film premiere from the Environmental Education Media Project: HOPE IN A CHANGING CLIMATE

“Hope in a Changing Climate,” is a video documentary that will be aired globally by the BBC World on November 27, 2009 and screened at the climate change summit in Copenhagen from December 7 - 18, supported by The Rockefeller Foundation, The World Bank, IUCN and the Syngenta Foundation for Sustainable Agriculture.

The film documents and dramatically demonstrates how large-scale ecosystem restoration can stabilize the changing climate, catalyze sustainable agriculture, and significantly reduce poverty.

"Hope in a Changing Climate" was shot in China Shaanxi province, Ethiopia and Rwanda in September/October 2009. The U.S. part is based on archives.

It is a story told on location of success and solution in the face of seemingly insurmountable obstacles.

Closing a full week of green cross-over events, GtB'3 wraps up its 3rd year with a recycled film workshop hosted by Electric Shadows and sustainable community bizarres in the afternoon; followed by an evening with Pecha Kucha Beijing (www.pkbj.org), plus the 3rd annual Eco-Fashion Show featuring WillowWillow couture (www.willowwillow.net),DimSum all things Asian designs (www.d-sata.com), and Raffles School of Design; blowing out the goodnight-lights with Acupuncture Records (www.acupuncture-records.com) DJs and friends, guest VJs (PIEN new art media), and out of the ordinary organic performances presented by Natooke (www.natooke.com)!!!
