GOALS FOR 2012

2012年目标

• Continue cultivating an eco-conscious community that fosters a sense of personal responsibility to the environment.

积极创建环保社会，培养公民对环境保护的责任感。

• Impact Beijing residents with a sense of connection to their surroundings and encourage interaction in the green community.

努力让北京居民感受到自己与周边环境的关系，并鼓励他们创建绿色社区。

• Promote public education focused on environmental concerns in Beijing and surrounding areas.

促进北京及周边地区的环保公共教育。

• Act as a conduit between academics, companies, organizations, and the creative community centered around the topic of environmentalism.

在学术界、企业界、各类机构，以及艺术界之间创建环保主义的沟通桥梁。

• Provide an interactive tool for community use that will enable access to eco-favorable choices and lifestyles in Beijing.

为在北京创建有益环境的生活方式而努力。

• Advocate environmentally conscious decision-making and inspire creativity in the Beijing community.

提倡有益环境的决策并激发北京的创造性灵感。

* Support non-profit organizations that operate environmental education programs and sustainability projects in Beijing.

支持北京的非营利机构开展环境教育和可持续发展项目。

• Establish an annual fund for Beijing based interactive art projects which further the goals of GtB in the greener years to come.

为北京互动艺术项目设立年度基金，用以完成点废成绿日后更多的绿色目标。

GtB sees the lack of creative solutions that address environmental problems (pollution, smog, desertification, waste management, extinction, et al) as the biggest threat to modern society.

GtB（点废成绿）看到了如今现代社会所面临的最大威胁之一，我们缺少一个对环境问题具有创造性的解决方案…污染、烟雾、土壤沙漠化、废弃物管理、生物灭绝等。

1 Huge Problem = Waste Management
NOBODY WANTS TO DEAL WITH WASTE! IT’S A DIRTY JOB!!!!

一个巨大的问题=废物管理
没有人想要处理垃圾废物!这是一个太肮脏的工作! ! !

China’s capital city produces approximately "18,400 tonnes of household garbage every day (6.7 million tons per year), 90 percent of which are landfilled, mainly because it is difficult to recycle unsorted garbage." - China Daily, Feb 27, 2010

The amount of the capital's trash is growing 8% annually. Beijing has a total of 13 Landfills; 2 currently full. - China International Radio, July 2009

中国的首都每天都在生产17,000吨的垃圾=每年6百万吨。平均每年的增长速度为8%。北京周围共有13垃圾掩埋场; 目前有2个已经被添满。(摘自2009年7月中国国际广播电台的报道)

Greening the Beige is all about getting down and dirty. It began with an art installation called Refoliation for the annual 2007 “eco-art” festival BURNING MAN in the USA. Refoliation was inspired by White Pollution (aka--the plastic bags and other disposable waste that have blighted the Chinese landscape over the last decade).

这不是一个空谈，“点废成绿”的主旨就是要实践和行动。
它始于美国一年一度在烧人节内的一个节目环节－“生态艺术”节日。一个叫Refoliation（重生的叶子）的艺术品就是它的起始。“重生的叶子”之灵感来自于白色污染（意思是塑料袋和其他一次性废物在过去十年中对中国环境所造成的破坏）。

Refoliation was an inter-active art piece made of 5 scale-to-life trees consisting of repurposed (recycled) steel and plastic. Burning Man 2007 participants were invited to “refoliate” the empty tree branches each night of the festival until they were full of plastic leaves.

重生的叶子是一个互动性的艺术作品,它是由回收的钢铁和塑料组成的5 棵实际尺寸的树。2007年烧人节的参与者们在每个晚上都被邀请用“新叶子”(白色废弃物)把空空的树枝添得越来越满。

Call to Action: Street Sweeping
500 leaves required the collection of more than 2,000 used plastic bags = 1 little cry for help herded a small army of volunteers, artists, organizations, and other concerned folks that wanted to be involved, too.

行动呼吁：清扫街道
500片叶子需要收集2000多个用过的塑料袋=仅一个小小的呼吁就聚集了一大批想要参与进来的志愿者、艺术家、组织和其他对此感兴趣的人们。

Leaf-Making Workshops
In the end Greening the Beige collected somewhere close to 2,500 plastic bags. A grand total of 500 plastic leaves for Refoliation were produced from these bags.

制作叶子的工坊
最后点废成绿从各个地方收集了近2500个塑料袋。重生的叶子的500片塑料叶子都是用这些塑料袋作成的。

500 Plastic Bags = 2 Eco-Fashion Show Models
500 additional plastic bags were collected for Lin Cuicui, a Global Village Beijing volunteer, to make 2 cool pieces for our 1st eco-fashion show. This inspired us to plan a big party in May 2007 and call it “Greening the Beige” (点废成绿).

另外的500个塑胶袋被我们中的一个志愿者做成了这两身衣服。这启发我们举办了一个" 生态时尚”的表演，并且在2007年5月发起了这个名为“点废成绿”的活动。

Mission: TO SAVE THE WORLD!
Actually, the mission of Greening the Beige is pretty simple: to provide a public platform that promotes environmental awareness through the arts.

其实“点废成绿”的使命非常简单： 提供一个公共信息平台, 并通过艺术的形式来加强每个人对环境保护的意识。

GtB has 2 components that make up its WHOLE goal:

Sustaining Creativity = Online Platform + Annual Event Platform

We might work with limited resources but we have MIGHTY ideas.

How does it run exactly?

GtB heavily relies upon the boundless talent and major contributions of its participants and ENERGETIC volunteers!

GtB is about being creative, strengthening Beijing’s green community, and supporting artists that support a healthy environment.

We each do our own part; what we put into the project, we get out of the project.

我们可能资源有限，但我们却拥有无限的想法。

它是如何运作的呢？ 点废成绿在很大程度上依靠参与者们无穷的天赋和巨大的贡献还有那些积极的志愿者们的支持！ 点废成绿就是通过大家的创造力、加强北京的绿色社区建设和支持绿色艺术家们的方式来维护一个健康的生活环境. 我们每个人都做好自己的那一部分，每一份为这个方案付出的辛劳都将从中得到相应的回报。
　

Over time, Greening the Beige has come to work with several remarkable organizations, campaigns, and projects -- all focused on creating a more sustainable planet. Over the years GtB has also helped draw more attention to its many green allies and community leaders, in addition to raising funds for the Hua Dan Sichuan Earthquake Project, Roots & Shoots –Jane Goodall Institute China, and China Mangrove Action Project.

随着时间的推移，点废成绿已经与一些组织取得了合作，参与了一些活动及项目的运作—旨在建设一个更加持续化的星球。数年来，除了为四川hua dan地震项目，根与芽 ——珍妮古道尔中国研究所及中国红树林项目筹资外，点废成绿还引起了很多环保盟友和社区领导的关注。

WHAT’S IN STORE?
Time flies when you’re having fun! GtB is celebrating its annual event series this November 2011 and currently seeking participants to get involved! (hint, hint, hint...)

点废成绿即将在2011年11月举行它的年度活动，并且目前我们正在寻求各方的参与和加入... ...。

Greening the Beige depends on creative contributions, time, and energy from community members. Currently we are looking for partners and collaborators that are interested in celebrating the green goodness of Beijing!

点废成绿取决于组织内成员们的创造力，时间和精力的奉献。目前，我们正在寻找对来自对美化和绿化北京感兴趣的合作者以及伙伴们的支持和帮助。
