China Green News reports:
The city of Zalandun, in Inner Mongolia, has been continuously investing in and building its photovoltaic power project. The “Solar City” project’s main goal is to install photovoltaic cells across different buildings in the city, and has quickly become a model city for China’s alternative energy development.
Zalandun city’s photovoltaic construction projects have a budget of 80 million yuan, and are currently installing non-silicon photovoltaic cells (BIPV) on the rooftops of buildings such as the local forestry school, manufacturing plants, prisons, warehouses, health clinics, etc.
Once the project is completed at the end of September 2011, the total area covered by photovoltaic cells will be around 3300 sq. meters, with a maximum capacity of 2MW (1/5 of the entire solar power photovoltaic production in Inner Mongolia).
