Poolside BBQ Bike Trip to the Great Wall!

Raise funds and FUNs at the same time???
It almost sounds too good to be true...

With just less than three months to go until the The China Charity Challenge's inaugural event over October Holiday, the team is gearing up for a "warm up" one-day charity bike ride in the Huang Hua Cheng area by the Great Wall on Saturday, August 22.

Set in the beautiful scenic back roads of the Huang Hua Cheng Great Wall area the route offers an opportunity to experience cycling around Beijing at its very best. Away from city traffic, road rage, and pollution; taking in fresh air, mountain vistas and some challenging hills to test riders' limits, the ride offers a chance not only for all levels of riders to participate and be challenged. The ride is open to all, but we are particularly encouraging riders who are potentially considering or who have already signed up for the Roots & Shoots Yunnan Bicycle Challenge to join.

The Ride:
Starting from the Huang Hua Cheng Valley - the 'stone fruit basket' of northern Beijing - winding all the way to Si Hai Pass, the ride follows an 'out and back' route allowing riders to turn back whenever they feel comfortable without the pressure of "having to keep up."

- Novice Route: Turn around point, roadside spring, 3/4 the way to SiHai Pass (~7km)
- Challenge Route: Turn around point is at Si Hai Village (~ 13.5km)
- Experienced Route: Turn around point, 2nd pass beyond SiHai Village (13.5km+)

Pool Party by the Great Wall:
The ride finishes at a beautiful open pool area in a newly finished resort. The resort boasts an incredible fish farm breeding different species of fish in spring water and a large outdoor pool. All riders can enjoy the resort's open BBQ with outdoor seating. One of their specialities is the famous Huairou smoked trout. Riders wishing to do a shorter distance can always turn back early and enjoy the pool, snacks and views of mountains and the Great Wall.

What you need to bring - Charged phone, money, water, snacks, suncream, sunglasses, GPS (optional), bike, spare change of shirt, swimmers, small towel.

Hiring Bikes - Trek has made available a limited no. of bikes for hire on the day for a special rate of 100RMB per bike (avail. from the CY Trek store prior to departure)

Sponsors: Mountain biking club, Beijing Mobsters (MOB) will be supporting the event along with raffle prizes from Dahon and Trek Bikes.
