With less than 100 days until the UN Climate Conference in Copenhagen, a new campaign has been launched. Tck Tck Tck, is the count down to the COP-15 conference and is aimed at getting people's eyes on this historic event. They are determining our future afterall. Tck Tck Tck is a coalition of many organizations, including WWF, Greenpeace and 350.org. On their site they have a great calendar of events leading up to Copenhagen.
For their opening in Beijing, Greenpeace China gathered water from the glacier-melt sources of the Yangtze, Yellow and Ganges Rivers. They then froze this water and had artists carve the ice into 100 ICE SCULPTURES OF CHILDREN. The sculptures were then brought Ditan Park, where Chinese emperors used to pray for the wellbeing of China and for good harvests.
The sculptures are meant to draw attention to the severe threat climate change plays for China's water supplies. and on top of that, they are BEAUTIFUL! check it out: http://www.greenpeace.org/china/en/news/100-days-copenhagen
Art allows us to feel what we already know.
