GREEN QUOTE OF THE DAY

"Why are we being forced to choose between the economy and the environment? We tend to forget that without an environment we would not have an economy, as everything we consume and I mean everything comes from our environment."

~ Franke James (contemporary artist, photographer, writer)

While GtB'5 has wrapped up its 2011 event series, the Sustainable Design Showcase continues to run through December 16th at The Center, a newly opened multi-function, multi-use, 588 square meter space, just minutes from Beijing's transportation nexus in the Dongzhimen area.

The Center also acts as a Knowledge Center, Organic Kitchen, Green Bar, Wellness Center, Events Space, Office, and the home of We Impact.

We Impact is a social enterprise based in Beijing, set on a mission to develop and promote opportunities that will realize sustainable lifestyles around the world through the dissemination of knowledge, cultural engagement, and business.

Joe Oliver, co-founder of We Impact said: ”Ultimately good design can change the world and improve people’s lives, so support of fledgling designers who are tackling this issue is fundamental to reaching into the fabric of our industries and society to improve it for all of us.”

The showcase is free and open to the public. Please contact Michelle Yang from We Impact to let her know you'd like to visit at least 1 day in advance.
