GREEN QUOTE OF THE DAY

"Why are we being forced to choose between the economy and the environment? We tend to forget that without an environment we would not have an economy, as everything we consume and I mean everything comes from our environment."

~ Franke James (contemporary artist, photographer, writer)

Beijing Film Screening Premiere & Dinner Event
北京电影放映首映&晚宴

Simultaneously launching on the BBC, Greening the Beige is proud to present this exclusive film premiere from the Environmental Education Media Project: HOPE IN A CHANGING CLIMATE

“Hope in a Changing Climate,” is a video documentary that will be aired globally by the BBC World on November 27, 2009 and screened at the climate change summit in Copenhagen from December 7 - 18, supported by The Rockefeller Foundation, The World Bank, IUCN and the Syngenta Foundation for Sustainable Agriculture.

The film documents and dramatically demonstrates how large-scale ecosystem restoration can stabilize the changing climate, catalyze sustainable agriculture, and significantly reduce poverty.

"Hope in a Changing Climate" was shot in China Shaanxi province, Ethiopia and Rwanda in September/October 2009. The U.S. part is based on archives.

It is a story told on location of success and solution in the face of seemingly insurmountable obstacles.

Grattitude

Here's what I just told The China Daily:

"Greening the Beige was created in 2007 because I felt overwhelmed by the world's various pollution problems and yet inspired by the many creative solutions I was beginning to discover in Beijing focused on building a more sustainable environment. The Environmental Education Media Project is one such organization that I learned about as I was beginning GtB. This year we have begun to collaborate on screening events with the EEMP, and it has been an honor for GtB to share the good works documented in their films. The ultimate goal of GtB is to seek out, celebrate, and share with Beijing's "green" community all of the positive, creative solutions to environmental problems we come across. The premiere screening of "Hope In a Changing Climate" does just that. And I'm very excited to host one of the exclusive live screenings in Beijing on the 27th."
