Can Eco-Style be mainstream in China?

This coming Friday I'm holding an event in support of Greening the Beige 3's Grand Finale Fashion Show. 2 of the designers and a successful make-up artists will join me to discuss their experiences using green products and materials and sustainable methodology along with their views of the consumers' mindset when choosing green or eco-fashion.
As local designers gain prominence what ideals will they hold on to when seeking their billion strong customer base.
“China’s status as the world’s largest manufacturing country has given its fashion designers a low profile internationally. But we now expect this to change as Chinese creativity moves centre stage in the years ahead and the country’s role as a leading consumer market with home-grown brands strengthens.”

And how will consumers react when presented with these green options - some at higher costs. Will they practice what they preach?
Survey Says Consumers Want Green Products
“China [consumers]…are particularly inclined to seek green products and to favor companies they consider green.”
“73 percent of Chinese consumers say they will spend more…on green products in the coming year…”
“98 percent…say that corporate reputation is an important purchase consideration.”
GLOBE-Net, 27 July 2009
How will this niche aspect of the enormous fashion industry develop in China? How will it differ from the rest of the world?
Let's talk about it Friday, November 27th at Punk Bar in the Opposite House in Sanlitun.
