Urban Gardening Workshops in Beijing

On a daily basis, I see so many instances of local residents taking the greening of our city into their own hands, with everything from small gardens in hutong neighbordhoods to window box gardening. I'm interested in providing a larger outlet and education on urban gardening as a response to this.

Gardening workshops will begin after Chinese New Year’s and consist of 5 sessions total, over a span of four weeks. Workshops will be informal, and involve a sharing of knowledge rather than a traditional lecture format. All workshops will be hands on with some lecturing. Workshops will be held in a combination of English and Chinese, although this is dependent on participants.

After the series of workshops, the long term vision is having a group to help build and support community gardens in Beijing. There is already a lot of urban gardening by residents in Beijing, but it would be extremely helpful to have a connected organization that can provide backbone support for the community gardens, help, education, and advice, similar to the organization Green Guerillas in NYC.
