INTRO 2010: Love Green

In 2010, Acupuncture Records will delight thousands of China’s electronic music fans yet again this year – this time, with a very green welcome.

By greening INTRO, festival goers will be able to celebrate, experience, and LOVE GREEN in a highly stimulating and creative environment. A number of nuances to this year’s event have been added that allow members of the electronic music community to engage in making tomorrow a better and more exciting place to look forward to!

ECO-ART INSTALLATIONS:

I) Carbon-Free Graffiti Artists presented by Greening the Beige
GtB will present 3-6 local Beijing artists to experiment with reverse-graffiti works for live exhibition at INTRO. Reverse graffiti is a method of street art that uses negative space to create images by “cleaning” residue-ridden surfaces. The aim of this installation is to inspire “green” ingenuity and creative technique that is earth friendly, urban, and radical, within the artist community and beyond.

　　
II) The Carbon Cube presented by Greening the Beige
The cross-cultural/environmental message of the Carbon Cube allows people to immediately and physically understand the average amount of CO2 emissions each Chinese & US citizen produces on a daily basis. The ultimate goal of presenting this artwork is to explain and demonstrate the need for smaller cubes in the future by inviting each attendee to step inside the cube, feel the space and volume of it, to help them understand what it represents. The interactive installation also calls for each festival-goer to participate in the project with their free expression of “Green Love” on 2 sides of the cube. Two sides of the cube will be reserved for select GtB artists to perform live mural demonstrations.

III) Bird’s Eye View II presented by Greening the Beige
The Bird's Eye View is an international network of art installations in support of 350 , a grassroots movement for the reduction of carbon emissions. This project hopes to inspire a sense of global unity for this movement, symbolizing a desire for a broadened perspective on environmental crisis, and its resolution by world citizens.

Created from recycled and re-used goods, the Bird’s Eye View project gives otherwise disposable materials a second life, and inspire ideas for recycled art forms, and creative ways to re-use objects ordinarily thrown away. When viewed from above, each installation composes the number 350.

In Beijing, Greening the Beige used issues of the Beijinger and beijingkids magazines as primary materials for a trial version of this project.

Since its start last October, the Bird's Eye View has been installed on roofs from the US to the Congo. Greening the Beige feels that this installation – in collaboration with several others like it around the world -- will aid in urging world leaders to sign an ambitious, fair and legally binding climate treaty that significantly reduces global greenhouse gas emissions within the next 8 years.

Implementation at INTRO 2010: Love Green
Change to “The People’s Eye View” to get maximum exposure. Do a live install at the festival and invite all attendees to help contribute to the final image (10:10:10). “The People’s Eye View” would be done on the ground (using old issues of City Weekend and/or used chopsticks) and then photographed from somewhere slightly above (stairs or other vantage point).

IV) THE TIPPING POINT by Ilsa McBryde & Jenna McBryde (Greening the Beige)

The Tipping Point is an art installation made of 100% rubbish found in one of Beijing’s overflowing dumpsters just south of Chaoyang Park. Nothing new was used for this creation, proving GtB’s old slogan: “One Person’s Trash Is Another Person’s Art Project”. The installation consists of 3 full body male mannequins + 2 female torsos + 1 pair of female legs. At INTRO attendees will be invited to dress and decorate the models with selected items recovered from city dumpsters.

V) JISU PK presented by STC
STC is a Beijing based group which promotes the use of the bicycle in Beijing. The group aims to promote cycling in the city as an enjoyable, healthy and sustainable activity and a much smarter alternative to driving a car or taking taxis. JISU PK is a fun bicycle event where 2 competitors on bikes attached to stationary rollers race each other for 30 seconds in front of a cheering crowd. Challenge your friend to a race, race your colleague, race someone from another country, hey you can even race your Grandparents (but be prepared to for them to kick your arse as they probably still ride their bikes everyday !).

INTRO2010北京电子音乐节：爱绿色

2010年, 针刺疗法会给成千上万的中国电子乐爱好者带来一个绿色的开端。

通过介绍, 活动的参与者将会在一个非常有激情与创造性的氛围中庆祝，感受和热爱绿色。今年我们又有新的成员—电子乐爱好者加入进来，让我们一起为明天创造一个令人期待更美好的，更令人向往的居住场所!

艺术展品

一）绿色涂鸦艺术家
　　在介绍活动中，点废成绿将请三到六位北京当地的艺术家尝试用反涂鸦的方式进行现场展出。反涂鸦是一种街头艺术，它利用负空间的形式通过“清洁”被尘埃污垢覆盖的表面的方法来创作图像。该艺术形式的目的是为了激发那些热爱世界和城市艺术的前卫群体以及其他群体对“绿色”的独创性和创造性工艺。

二）碳立方
碳立方所传递的跨文化/环境两个领域的信息让人们切身地体会到每个中国公民和美国公民平均每天产生的二氧化碳排放量。这个展品的目标是通过邀请参与人到立方里面去体会立的空间与体积，切实体会此立方的含义并最终唤起人民对减小立方的需求。这个互动展品还呼吁每个活动的参与者加入到这个项目中来，将他们对“绿色之爱”的自由表达展现在这个立方体的两侧。这个立方体的另外两侧将留点废成绿所选出来的艺术家们进行现场壁画展示。

(三) Bird’s Eye View II
鸟瞰是以支持350（对减少二氧化碳排放量的草根运动）为目标的艺术品国际网络。该项目希望激人类的团结精神来支持此运动，同时象征了环境危机问题对开阔思维的需求以及全世界人民渴望对改变环境危机的决心。

鸟瞰项目使用可回收利用物品进行创作，以另一种方式给一次性材料带来第二次生命，同时激发大家对再生艺术形态的思考，并以创造性的方式重新利用那些通常要丢弃的物品。当你以俯视的角度去欣赏这些艺术品时，你会发现每个艺术品都会呈现数字350。
在北京，点废成绿主要通过北京人杂志和北京儿童杂志来发行这个项目的试用版。
自去年10月至今，鸟瞰已被安置到了从美国到刚果的很多屋顶上。点废成绿认为这项艺术形式――与世界上另外一些与此形式相似的艺术形式进行合作――将有助于敦促世界各国领导人签署一项雄心勃勃，公平和具有法律约束力的条约，如果条约生效， 这将意味着在未来8年可显著减少全球温室气体排放量。
INTRO 2010的应用创意：
在音乐节制作一个现场作品并邀请所有参加者一起完成最后的工程（10:10:10）。“鸟瞰图”将在场地上进行（用城市周末的旧杂志以及用过的一次性筷子），然后在高处（台阶或其他地方） 把它照下来。

IV) 由Ilsa McBryde & Jenna McBryde 设计的“转折点”（点废成绿）

“转折点”是一个由100%垃圾制成的艺术作品，这些垃圾来自于北京朝阳公园南边一个被填满的垃圾箱。在这个作品中没有一样材料是新的，这印证了“点废成绿”的一个老口号：“一个人的垃圾就是另外一个人的艺术品”。这个作品由三个男性模特模型，两个女性模特模型以及一对女性腿部模型组成。在INTRO音乐节上我们将邀请参与者用从城市的垃圾桶里拣来的物品装扮这些人体模特。

V) JISU PK presented by STC

STC 是一个以北京为基地促进在北京使用自行车的团体。 此团体的目的在于宣传在城市中骑自行
车是一项有趣、健康并且是可持续的活动，同时也是一个比开车或打车更明智的选择。JISU PK 是
一项有趣的自行车比赛，两位参与者在观众面前骑车轮固定在地面上自行车， 比赛时间为30秒。
你可以在这个比赛中挑战你的朋友、同事、外国人甚至是你的爷爷奶奶（他们很可能会打败你因为
他们每天都还在骑自行车!）
