ECO=CHIC: Re-Loved Reconstruction Benefit for China Earthquake Survivors This Thursday

Eco=Chic returns for its 3rd installment to support China’s earthquake survivors in Sichuan and Yushu in a few days. Learn about re-fashioning old clothes with Beijing’s original fair trade/charity shoppe and re-design label Brandnü. All attendees can enjoy a brief workshop demonstration led by Hua Dan.

100% of the “Green Garage Sale” (2nd hand clothing market)'s proceeds will be donated to the China Charity Federation in support of Yushu Earthquake Relief Aid.

About Hua Dan
Hua Dan is dedicated to using theatre to inspire people's full potential. We seek to achieve this through addressing three main change goals: personal development; relationships; and participatory arts. We are one of the first organisations in China committed to pioneering the uses and applications of participatory and educational theatre and our programs in the Beijing migrant community and rural Sichuan have significant impact in changing the way participants think about their role in society, giving them the capacity to express their ideas and feelings, collaborate with others and become agents for change in their lives and the lives of others.

Hua Dan’s long-term earthquake rehabilitation program in Sichuan began in August 2008 and aims to help children affected by the earthquakes rebuild their trust, confidence and ability to express themselves and heal. A dedicated team of local staff and volunteers run participatory theatre workshop courses in various schools throughout rural regions of Sichuan as well as summer and winter camps for students. We also provide train the trainer workshops teaching workshop facilitation skills to local NGO staff, carers, volunteers and teachers.

花旦致力于用戏剧激发人的潜能，并通过探讨“个人发展”、“人际关 系”和“参与式艺术”这三个主要内容来实现这一目标。我们是中国第一家致力于研究和应用参与式戏剧教育的非营利性组织。我 们在北京农民工居住区和四川郊区所从事的项 目已经对我们的参与者产生了深远和积极的影响。这种影响不仅限于参与者对自身价值的认知，和自我表达、团队合作能力的提 升。更为重要的是，他们当中很多人，通过花旦这个平台，正为改善自己和他人的生活积极努力的工作着。

花旦2008四川地震灾后复原项目 始于当年8月 份。项目的目的在于帮助灾区儿童重建对他人的信任、对生活的信心， 提 高其自我表达能力，从而治愈灾难所带给他们的心灵创伤。至今，我们的志愿者和花旦（四川分部）工作人员已经深入到灾区各个区域，通 过参与式戏剧教育为孩子们组织了各种主题的活动。期间，我们也为当地其他NGO的工作人员、志愿者、和学校老师提供了有关参与式戏剧教育 的培训课 程。
