GtB Update Report!

Green Greetings, Green People!

It's been awhile since my last report, but better late than never, here's the latest monthly installment of GtB news....

(btw if YOU have green stories about Beijing or otherwise that you think would be of interest to this group, please feel free to share them!)

A couple of cool happenings since I wrote last:

1. Vance Wagner (speaker at GtB08 on the future of Beijing's air quality) has been keeping a very informative blog on all things China and traffic-related.

2. Given the Olympics, and then my recovery period from a nasty bout of tonsilitis, I missed the last 2 BJ Green Drinks Events (held every 2nd Tuesday of the month, 7 to 10 pm at the Stoneboat in the spring/summer and at the Bookworm in the fall/winter) - but I do plan to attend the next one coming up in October. 3. GtB still needs a home for Doug Lewis' recycled media installation: 'The Bottle Project'. (my yantai simply just won't do forever).

One interesting possibility is Milu Park, a nature reserve/ecology research center located just south of the 5th ring road: http://www.quirkybeijing.com/?cat=26

Another reason why I thought the place was so cool is because it also douples as an art/scultpture park. More news on that coming soon...

4. Last week Hua Dan threw a party at the British Embassy's Deputy Head of Mission home in Beijing and they were nice enough to invite GtB. It turned out to be a lovely evening and really heart warming to meet all the volunteers and hear their stories.

Plans are now in the works for me and Ben Zhang, GtB's foster father, to visit the Hua Dan Sichuan Earthquake Relief project sites in late October. So stay tuned for that...

5. As far as the current status of GtB, it is a bit of a resting period. Still wrapping up the few loose ends from our last event before combing out the details ahead.

Thanks to all of you that have offered your help, suggestions, time, and ideas in the meantime. I have been taking notes. And I will definitely be getting back to you soon.
