Happy Friday!
Earlier this year, one of GtB's big antiwaste heroes and favorite storytellers, Annie Leonard, was interviewed by Brian Frank for Bitch Magazine.
The feature was published just at the release of "The Story of Bottled Water", her latest in a series of digestable, short, animated films that break-down and illustrate the perpetuated waste-cycle of [North American] consumer culture.
For anyone looking for inspiration or merely just trying to get a better understanding about their role in the garbage-cycle and what to do about it, The Story of Stuff project is full of facts and guidance. According to Ms. Big Stuff, the secret to being an [environmental] action hero is to think and pursue fearlessly outside of the box:
"A lot of environmentalists are still stuck trying to choose between different items on a menu that someone else has set. The real power is not choosing an item on the menu, but deciding what's on the menu. Of all the heroes I have, none would have rallied around something that was a little bit better than terrible."
