GREEN QUOTE OF THE DAY

"Why are we being forced to choose between the economy and the environment? We tend to forget that without an environment we would not have an economy, as everything we consume and I mean everything comes from our environment."

~ Franke James (contemporary artist, photographer, writer)

Energy-Saving Idea #3: Repair something 1 day

GreenLadyC's picture

As part of the ongoing contest GtB is running with Kocoon Spa & Lounge in tribute to EARTH HOUR this month, we are challenging everyone to save energy by fixing something that’s broken; mend something that’s worn; revive something that’s dead.

The Story of Stuff is a great film to watch if you’re thinking about the time and energy it costs to produce something, package something, sell something, dispose of something or recycle something. We suggest avoiding an “out with the old, in with the new” attitude and spending 1 day grabbing the tools around you to rejuvenate whatever it is that’s broken, worn or dead you can find.

Give it a shot and enjoy!

Personalized snot rags

My friend once gave me an embroidered handkerchief. She took a small square of white linen and sewed the edges with simple, black thread. She then wrote my initials in the corner. I didn't use it right away but kept in in my bag of treasures. Now it has a steady spot in my pocket and , if i dare say, a place in my heart. Next time you eat Hunan cuisine and everyone at the table is chain blowing into paper tissues, think about a personalized snot rag.
