Hoping everyone out there enjoyed a happy EARTH DAY on Friday! Marking the global "green" holiday this year as a daily celebration and call to act, the Earth Day Network’s flagship initiative on Rio+20 - A Billion Acts of Green - is designed to prove the idea that real change occurs best when millions of people commit to it with their actions.
In the same way,Road to Rio+20 is all about young people taking action, by getting involved in the preparations for the upcoming summit, but also by doing something about its themes.
Road to Rio+20 is the global youth mobilization towards the UN Conference on Sustainable Development. It is the coalition effort by 16 partner organizations from 15 countries all over the world, coordinated by Peace Child International. Partners are united behind the common aim to mobilize, inspire, empower and support young people to take action on issues of sustainable development and influence the outcomes of Rio+20.
Available opportunities to get involved include:
• regional youth preparatory meetings in
• educational publications
• capacity-building webinars
• a global green business challenge
• the development of a global youth contribution
to the UN negotiations
